Arlene  Gonzalez is a respected Civil Rights and HR/EEO leader with over 30 years of federal service at the highest levels of government. As the founder of Cornerstone, Arlene leverages her deep institutional knowledge to provide strategic guidance and technical preparation for professionals navigating complex workplace situations.  Her career is marked by high-stakes leadership roles across the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Notably, Arlene served as the National Director of Military and Civilian EEO Programs for the U.S. Coast Guard and as the Director of Diversity and EEO at the Pentagon, supporting the Office of the Secretary of the Army.  Her extensive operational impact includes serving as the National EEO Director for the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), where she managed ten regions nationwide, and as the Deputy Regional Director for the Atlanta Region of the Office of Job Corps. Her specialized expertise in workplace accommodations is anchored by her tenure as the National Disability Manager for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). Arlene's influence extended to national policy through her work with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, where she contributed to shaping federal standards for equity and workforce representation.

Arlene holds a Master’s in Public Administration (Cum Laude) from Georgia Southern University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management (Cum Laude) from St. Leo College. Her technical precision is further backed by advanced leadership certifications from the Army Management Staff College and the American Academy of Project Management.  Now based in Orlando, Arlene continues her commitment to advocacy as a Board Member for the Orange County Mayor's Board of Advisors on Aging and Disability. At Cornerstone, her work is rooted in a simple principle: focusing on the person in front of her. She is dedicated to helping her clients navigate complex systems, providing the steadfast support needed to keep their professional reputations and careers  from being compromised.

Liana Caban

Chief, Healthcare & Clinical Strategist

Liana Caban brings over two decades of respected clinical expertise as a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner to the Cornerstone team. She provides the vital medical-administrative bridge for navigating complex workplace disputes involving health-related actions. With an extensive background spanning Emergency Medicine, Orthopedic Trauma, and Senior Care Administration, she understands the high-pressure clinical environments our clients often face.

At Cornerstone, Liana serves as a Clinical Strategist, translating intricate medical terminology into the clear, factual information needed for a client's case. Her experience as a Nursing Director gives her "inside-the-system" knowledge of how administrative policies are applied to health-related leave. She is an expert in reviewing medical documentation and identifying the critical nuances in cases involving FMLA, Fitness-for-Duty evaluations, and Reasonable Accommodations.

Liana holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Beyond her professional leadership, she is deeply rooted in the Orlando community, where she and her family are active advocates for local youth athletics, including Orange County Baseball and COBRA teams. 

 

Diego Caban

Advisor, Digital Strategy & The Future of Work

Diego Caban serves as a vital link for the firm, providing high-level insights into the technological shifts and emerging workplace trends—including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and remote work dynamics—that are redefining the modern workforce. With extensive experience within high-stakes hospitality and global event sectors—including Walt Disney World, Loews Hotels, and Carnival Cruise Lines—he understands the nuances of managing complex, fast-paced operational environments.

As a Generational Strategist, Diego serves as a translator between traditional professional standards and the shifting values of the emerging labor market. He maintains a constant pulse on evolving professional behaviors and technological expectations, offering fresh perspectives on remote work and organizational  stewardship. This dual lens allows Cornerstone to remain at the forefront of the "Future of Work," helping our strategies account for the rapidly changing landscape of the  modern 21st-century work environment.

Diego is currently completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Management, bringing a practical understanding of workforce dynamics to the firm.  

Debra Martinez

Senior Advisor, Veterans Advocacy

 

Debra Martinez is a United States Navy Veteran, certified paralegal, and management official within the Department of Veterans Affairs. With over two decades of federal service, Debra has managed multiple departments,  bringing a deep operational understanding to administrative systems and specialized investigations 

At Cornerstone, Debra focuses on the practical support required to navigate institutional challenges. Her expertise encompasses Administrative Investigations, Labor Relations, and Performance Management, where she helps ensure the factual record remains the primary focus of a client’s situation. Leveraging an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, she provides the regulatory clarity necessary to manage the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and complex fitness-for-duty scenarios from the unique perspective of a federal supervisor.

As a leadership mentor and advisor, Debra helps transform workplace uncertainty into clear, manageable steps.  Her dual lens of military experience and current federal experience provides clients with the steadfast support needed to navigate  even the most complex administrative processes.

Anaury Angeles

Conflict Resolution and Civil Rights Compliance Strategist

Anaury Angeles is a respected Conflict Resolution and Civil Rights leader, bringing more than 17 years of extensive experience in managing Federal HR and EEO programs. She provides clients with critical "inside-the-system" insight, offering a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory standards and requirements that must be met to resolve workplace conflict effectively.

At Cornerstone, Anaury specializes in areas vital to protecting a professional career, including Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Mediation, and the practical implementation of Disability and Pregnancy-related accommodations. Her background in evaluating and modernizing core federal policies gives her a unique command of the administrative processes that directly support a client’s factual record.

Anaury holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Management and is currently advancing her expertise through a Master of Science in Health Care Administration. This advanced academic focus, combined with nearly two decades of federal leadership, allows her to provide the support and information  needed to understand complex EEO processes.  

Wesley Jimenez

Senior Consultant, Logistics &  Distribution Systems

Wesley Jimenez brings over 34 years of respected frontline federal experience to the Cornerstone team. A veteran of the United States Postal Service in New York City, Wesley’s career—from metropolitan delivery to the complexities of global logistics—provides a practical perspective on the operational management required to maintain essential services within the nation’s most demanding environments.  At Cornerstone, Wesley serves as a Senior Consultant for professionals in the Transportation, Logistics, and Infrastructure sectors. Drawing on his decades of experience and specialized federal training, he serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in high-density distribution hubs, transport systems, and operational safety. 

Leveraging his tenure as a Union Steward, Wesley provides a critical "insider" perspective on negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolution. Having seen firsthand how high-stakes cases are settled within the  USPS federal system, he offers the steadfast support needed to reach a resolution before a professional standing is diminished. By combining technical knowledge with union experience, Wesley helps clients navigate the process of defending their professional records in high-pressure work environments.  Wesley’s methodology is anchored by a career dedicated to the protection of high-value assets. His background at the Hispanic Society of America Museum and Library in Manhattan required a meticulous eye for security and the handling of priceless artifacts—a level of precision he successfully translated to the federal logistical field. This experience equips him with a mastery of operational preparedness, focusing on maintaining situational awareness and regulatory compliance.

Wesley holds an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and has completed extensive federal training in Supervisory Leadership, Safety Systems, Maintenance, Security, Ethics, and Labor Relations.
